The End

Just a quick note about the final episodes of Veronica Mars last night (and yeah, this is spoilery): how appropriate was that ending? I know it was an unsatisfying end as well, but with a show whose future always hung in the balance, to end with Veronica casting an uncertain ballot for her father (for Mars!) against seemingly insurmountable odds, while the rest of the rabble voted for stupidity and showmanship over true competence?

A really beautiful, horribly bittersweet end that stands as the perfect (as in, perfectly frustrating) encapsulation of what being a fan of this beat-about show was all about.

With you. It definitely felt like a graceful coda. Returning full circle to the 1st season with the stunning appearance of Lily--that was a great moment, when she realizes whose house she's in. And Weevil getting some center stage time. And Logan returning to his original sociopathic ways (which is what must happen when he is not with veronica). Everybody gets hurt, there's not one happy player among them. And it's that deep melancholy that fueled my love of the show.

And that excellent last song, as VM, in pure noir style, walks away alone down a dark, rain splattered street. It didn't suck.
