Define "Unsatisfying":

.
From EW:

"With reports of The CW canceling Veronica Mars, fans of the girl detective can take heart in this piece of exclusive news: CW's buzzed-about new drama Gossip Girl, based on the best-selling teen book series, will feature voiceover narration by none other than... Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl herself. Gossip Girl will reportedly air this fall on The CW on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., after Top Model."

Whatever, CW. Nice try, but if she ain't on my screen with a giant monkey on the end of her pencil, then I am displeased.

She can do soooooo much better.

I found this on IMDB and it offers VM another glimmer of hope:

"Question: I don't understand you. First, you reported that Veronica Mars' chance of survival had gone from "so-so" to "pretty good." Now with the news that Rob Thomas has been asked to run a new pilot on CBS, VM’s chances have gone back down to "slim." What gives?— Gina Olson
Ausiello: What did I tell you about shooting the messenger? The messenger is just doing his job. The messenger is good. And the messenger has an update: Last night at ABC's upfront bash, a high-level Warner Bros. executive confirmed what I first reported yesterday: It's entirely possible that the CW will delay a decision on Mars' fate until after Thursday's upfront. Contractually, the net has until June 15 to reach a verdict, and the extra time would allow Rob Thomas to produce an actual script for VM in the FBI. That's one scenario. The other scenario is that the show is dead. I think we can all agree that Scenario One is preferable. One thing is certain: VM will not be on the schedule that Dawn Ostroff presents to advertisers on Thursday morning. The messenger wishes he had better news."

But don't worry, that angry letter is startin tomorrow :)

Urgh, I am so annoyed at the constant dicking around they're giving us fans. Just freaking make your decision, Ostroff!

Further. . . (from E!)

As Veronica herself would say, now that she's a Battlestar fan: FRAK.

EW.com is reporting that Kristen Bell will be doing voice-overs as the Gossip Girl herself on the CW drama coming next season from The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. And you've heard the rumors that VM show runner Rob Thomas was invited to produce Hugh Jackman's Viva Laughlin! Also, the CW can supposedly pick up Veronica Mars as late as June 15, but it will not be announcing a pickup at its upfront tomorrow.

1:52 p.m. Update: You gotta love modern technology! I'm inside Carnegie liveblogging the CBS presentation and just corresponded via email with Rob Thomas about VM.

He tells me:

"We could still be a midseason replacement. We've known for a couple of weeks that they were thinking of us in terms of midseason. We don't know when we'll hear something definite.

"I've known Kristen did the disembodied-voice work on Gossip Girl for quite some time. Totally cool with me.

"I was approached by Viva Laughlin, but I really want to concentrate on either Veronica Mars or future development."

I have never watched this show, but so many people are talking about it that I feel I'm really missing out on something. Plus, Kristen Bell is easy on the eyes and I'm sure I'm the first to have said that.

Even midseason would be fine with me. As long as it is renewed and it comes back. :)
