Superstar

I saw this news yesterday but didn't get around to posting it, but it seems as good as any to start the day with (happy Tuesday!).

Danny Strong, whom y'all ought to know - because I refuse to accept that anyone reading this may not know Buffy sideways and back - as having played downtrodden geek-boy Jonathan on Buffy the Vampire Slayer sporadically throughout the entire series' run, and who currently plays somebody or other on Gilmore Girls (I can't really watch that show; it makes the boyfriend turn violent), has written the script for Sydney Pollack's next movie. I know! So random. From AICN:

"Danny Strong, who played Nerd of Doom Jonathan Levinson on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (and continues to play former Yale Daily News editor Doyle McMaster on “Gilmore Girls”), wrote the screenplay for the HBO movie “Recount,” to be directed by Sydney Pollack (“Jeremiah Johnson,” “Tootsie,” “The Interpreter”).

“Recount” is about the turmoil precipitated in Florida by the 2000 Bush/Gore presidential race. More than 175,000 Florida voter ballots were rejected, and George Bush won the state – and the national election - by 537 certified votes.

From Monday morning’s Hollywood Reporter:

Strong, whose acting credits include "Gilmore Girls" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," pitched the idea for "Recount" to [producer Paula] Weinstein a year and a half ago. Weinstein and longtime Spring Creek executive Len Amato then took the project to HBO.

To write the script, Strong did detailed research, including conducting numerous interviews with people involved in or affected by the recount, Weinstein said."

Good on him! And up next, Warren will be taking over cinematography for Indiana Jones 4 and Andrew will be doing costume design for Woody Allen.

Sadly, I saw Andrew in some random commercial a couple months ago. A small piece of my heart broke when I saw that...:(
