Quote of the Day

Mandalay Pictures head Cathy Schulman on the apparently-really-gonna-happen remake of Hitchcock's The Birds (SIGH), from Variety via BD:

"We think we have a very contemporary take... In the original, the birds just showed up, and it was kind of like, why are the birds here? This time, there’s a reason why they’re here and (people) have had something to do with it. There’s an environmental slant to what could create nature fighting back."

Sometimes I think I'm just going to start barfing and it will never stop; that I will just keep barfing until everything inside of me - intestines, blood, eyeballs - will be lying on the floor in front of me like some sort of Avant-garde art installation.

And I guess that's all I need to say on that, really.

ETA - Ooh, in related, real-world news, I think I've found just the update the story could use - Robo-Falcons!!!

well...thank god. I can finally learn why the Birds attack in 'The Birds'....I've always thought Alfred Hitchcock has plot problems.................

as Borat would say, "NOT!"

I hope they remake North by Northwest next and instead of just having Cary Grant's character be mistaken for a secret agent they give us some sort of really elaborately plotted set-up that takes like a full hour.
