Somehow, without ever having seen a single episode of Speed Racer, this film adaptation is getting me to write about it a second time. Now that's a casting director! First there was Christina Ricci as SR's girlfriend, and now we have Lost-ie and crush-o-mine Matthew Fox joinging the show as the villain. From THR:
"Larry and Andy Wachowski have added another two passengers to their "Speed Racer" vehicle. Matthew Fox is in final negotiations to play Racer X in the live-action update of the 1960s cartoon for Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Joel Silver... Fox will play Speed's mysterious racing rival, an enigmatic soldier of fortune.
The "Lost" star will fit "Speed Racer" in around the series' summer hiatus.
The Wachowskis are writing and directing, with the studio eyeing a summer 2008 bow."
Hrm. Does being "an enigmatic soldier of fortune" involve "stripping down to one's skivvies and being hosed down with water"? Because, in this case, I really think the Wachowskis need to think through that definition thoroughly.

Wow, I want to see this now. For Fox to pull this off he is going to have to starve himself to look right. Sounds great.

ok...i want to see YOUR version of this movie (I too have never seen an episode of this show).
and to homeslaughter, why is it good for Mr. Fox to starve himself. He couldn't be any hotter than he is now.
