I See Laurie Strode!

I have a feeling today's gonna be downright picture-tastic; Bloody Disgusting has got the first pictures of the major characters in Rob Zombie's Halloween remake (that phrase - "Halloween remake" - is still making my skin crawl, I don't care how much I enjoyed The Devil's Rejects). First is Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis, played in the original by Donald Pleasance:

And second are our doomed girls, with Scout Taylor-Compton in the center all nerdified up with glasses as our Final Girl, Laurie Strode, immortalized back in '78 by the wonderful Jaime Lee Curtis.

Since somebody felt that this was a necessary thing to do, and since there's no stopping them now, I do hope Zombie gets it right and doesn't crap on the original. But I do wish this just wasn't happening. So very unnecessary! God.

Remakes are tricky at best. Of all the horror movies in the world, why remake Halloween? (Or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for that matter.) I think I've only liked one of the horror remakes so far (Willard...I know, but Crispin Glover's a genius).

I guess it depends on how much you like Rob Zombie. I thought his other two films were great, and I trust him enough to think he's really going to do something different (while cautiously fearing that he'll let me down). Fingers crossed.
