Coop In

.

Alias hottie Bradley Cooper is set to star in the adaptation of Clive Barker's supremely-twisted short story, "The Midnight Meat Train." From Variety:

"Bradley Cooper will topline "Midnight Train," based on Clive Barker's tale about murderous mayhem on the Gotham subway.

Lakeshore and Lionsgate are producing the pic, with Lionsgate on board to distribute. Lensing is set to begin this winter.

"Train" is based on Barker's short story "Midnight Meat Train," published in his popular "Books of Blood" series. It centers on a photographer on the trail of a serial killer who operates in the subway system.

Pic has also attached Asian horror director Ryuhei Kitamura, replacing Patrick Tatopoulos, who fell off the project."

Now it's just called Midnight Train? That's lame. The "Meat" was, well, the meat of that title! Plus there was that poster a couple of weeks ago that had the entire title. I wonder if that poster was bullshit? Hmm. Anyway, Cooper's fine, he was wonderful as Will Tippin on Alias. I just wish he'd stop trying to, um, be something he ain't.

I'm psyched about Kitamura directing the flick, though; I just watched Alive a few weeks ago and it's a bit of a mess, but an entertaining one; likewise so are Versus and Godzilla: Final Wars, but they're also great, occasionally sick fun. He could be perfect for adapting this story.
