How amazing is this film? I watched it last night for the first time, and just, my god I fell in love with it. But a question... this is what City of Angels was adapted from right? HOW? How was that sentimental piece of tripe starring Meg Ryan and Nic Cage made from this lovely, elegiac film? Flabbergasting. And perhaps the best example I have ever seen of the worst side of what "Hollywood-izing" a film can do.

It's been about a year since I saw it for the first time (and the last) and couldn't agree more. Wings of Desire is just beautiful, in every way. And Bruno Ganz is absolutely perfect.
And then of course they have to turn it into shit like City of Angels. And cast fuckin' Nicolas Cage.
