Put Down That Classic!

This week's Ask The Critic question over at EW.com perked my ears up, because it's something I was just talking about last night (over at TFV), and specifically in regards to the same film that critic Lisa Schwartzbaum mentions. Here's the question:

"I loved Hotel Rwanda and Schindler's List, but I could only view them once because they're so disturbing. What movie have you liked that you never want to see again?"

Schwartzbaum goes on to list why the film that she doesn't see herself watching again is Requiem For A Dream, even though she thought it great, but that it's too disturbing to revisit.

As I've mentioned before, I have to really force myself to sit and watch RfaD again, though I manage it about once a year.

Answering the question myself, I can't think of a film I've seen once and found great that I don't see myself ever wanting to watch again. I've seen Schindler's List about four times, probably, and even though it does upset me, I manage. I have had a copy of United 93 for several months sitting at home that I haven't been able to make myself watch yet, and if I do watch it, and I find it great (which I am already inclined to think I will), I could see myself not wanting to watch that again. I mean, I don't know if I'm ready for even one viewing still.

So I'm just curious - is there a Great Movie you never want to see again? Answer in the comments!

Mine is the same as Lisa's, actually, and I say it to people all the time: Requiem is utterly brilliant, and I don't think I ever want to see it again.

I've managed to watch large portions of Requiem and Dancer in the Dark since my initial viewing, but it's a hard sit to watch the entire thing.

For me if a movie is as good as those, I'll wanna watch certain things again so I'll make myself do it. But there's movies like Hotel Rwanda that I would probably never watch again, but that's because while it was a good movie it didn't really leave me feeling devestated and there wasn't anything there that really worked my brain into a mess.

I must say though, strangly, I could probably sit through United 93 again. It seems odd but... i dunno. I just could.
