Funny Games News

Wow! JJ's got the first pics that I've seen from the Long Island set of the still-shooting Michael Haneke remake-of-his-own-movie Funny Games, starring Naomi Watts and Tim Roth. Lots more over there.

Also, it's been awhile since I'd checked out news on the production, and I see listed on the IMDb page the two actors who've just got to be the two villians of the film - Michael Pitt (The Dreamers) and Brady Corbet (Mysterious Skin).

I think Corbet's a terrific choice, he was very good in MS, but I really haven't gotten on the Michael Pitt train... he always looks like he's nursing about sixteen different strains of The Plague to me.

Also, this is a much more strictly Aryan look of villainy than in the original film - there, the two bad guys were completely different looking (one skinny and dark-haired, one pudgy and fair - but here they're very similar types. I'm just not gonna be able to help missing the great Arno Frisch in the original, though...

Haneke's on fire these days and CANNOT do wrong in my book, anyway, so I've got more than enough trust in him to do this right.

Think how it could've been a remake by, say, Michael Bay. No, do not even think that, it chills my very soul.

MH can do wrong if he puts that lame crackhead Pitt in the movie. Pitt should let the gang at Nylon blow him and leave the rest of us alone.
