
Today marks the birthdays of two of my favorite living directors.
Sam Raimi, who brought the world the spectacle of a woman being raped by tree branches and another woman swallowing an airborne eyeball, not to mention a certain web-slinging sensation, turns 47 today.
Ang Lee, whose only untouched genre at this point appears to be the "demonic-possession splatter comedy" genre (and that's unfortunate, I say), turns 52 today.
Raimi's found immense success with the superhero genre; Lee... notsomuch. Though I'll defend Hulk as being better than it's remembered to be, I do wonder if the majority of my opinion therein lay with the presence of Bana. Mmmm Bana.
And speaking of beefcake, it's also Ryan Reynolds' birthday - today he turns 30. Somebody send him over here, he needs 30 whacks on the behind...
