Happy Birthday, Tori!

.

'Nathaniel at Film Experience already beat me to the punch (with a collage, no less!) with wishing the Faerie Princess herself a happy birthday, so I'll just compound the blog-love for Miss Amos a bit.

Oh Tori, how have I obsessed over theee, let me count the ways: I can't even count the number of times anymore that I've seen Tori in concert (we're talking low double-digits). I met her! Yes, it was a brief post-concert, "attack her on her way out the theater" meet, but still, I got a hug. She's so much tinier than you think she is, it's scary. I have listened my copy of Boys For Pele into the grave and had to buy a new copy a few months ago (Same with OK Computer, actually).

Nathaniel asked in his post what our favorite album and song of her were, and I actually didn't have that difficult a time answering (where I did, rambling, in his comments).

Boys For Pele is one of the best albums of the... ever. I love the two before and most of what comes after (though The Beekeeper was a big disappointment... I love you still, Tori!), but Boys For Pele is everything Tori can do wrapped in a big bow. She's seething, she's scary, she's ethereal, she's sweet, she's horny. She'll club you over the head and drag you into her cave and make you smoke peyote and talk about gnomes. She's practically unhinged, and that's the Tori I adore.

And her greatest song is "Cooling", which is not on any of the main albums. There is a live version on the live disc half of To Venus and Back, and a recorded version on one of the singles for "Spark". The recorded version is the best version, find that if you seek it out.

Actually, go here to Diagnosed Sounds for everything Tori you could ever want.

Okay, so, Happy Birthday Tori! I'm glad you found your happiness at home... now go make another kick-ass record!

Oh, and as a bonus, here's the awesome video for 'A Sorta Fairytale", starring Tori and "Oscar-winner Adrien Brody." Love it!
