Brokeback was the #2 movie in America for Monday, just behind the Kate Beckinsale-rocks-pleather spectacle Underworld:Evolution. BBM's now made just over $42 million; once Oscar noms are announced (on January 31st this year) a film's gross usually tends to double. A lot of box office prognosticators are saying BBM could make up to $100 million.
John Waters was quoted saying it'll be "the queer Oscars" this year, but he's still waiting for a gay actor to be nominated for playing a gay role. I guess he never got around to seeing Ian McKellen in Gods & Monsters - hey John, add that to your Netflix queue maybe?
