All of us Joss fans had high hopes for Serenity. Unreasonably high, it turned out. Not in the quality department - the film was incredible, Joss really knocked it out of the park - but in the hope that it would catch on with a bigger audience and make a buncha money and promise us a sequel or two with our favorite lil' space crew.
Alas, the film's only made $25 million as of last weekend, not even coming close to recouping its $40 million budget. Which makes me sad. I'm sad, people!
I don't know if they're rushing out the DVD since the film flopped or because of X-mas or what, but it's being released on December 20th, not even three months after being released to theaters.
But ya know, that suits me fine. I can't wait to see it again. I am part of the problem, not the solution, after all - I only saw it in the theater once. Shame on me! I let all of fandom down.
