Mama

I'm leaving the office early today, my mother's flying into town for a weekend visit. It's only the second time she's visited in the five years I've lived here, and the first time was in mid-January blizzard weather so it's pretty much the first time she'll get to tour around without losing her fingertips to frostbite.

I'm excited. It's a quick trip (she leaves early Monday morning), and I'm going to try and show her around, but I haven't really cemented any huge plans which now has me worried that I'm going to let her down. She doesn't get in until 6:15 tonight, and her addiction to Big Brother commands we stay home and watch what I think is the finale tonight. So tonight's easy.

Depending on the weather, which is forecasting scattered showers all weekend (sigh), we're gonna try and do a carriage ride in Central Park. She also mentioned going out to the Statue of Liberty. I really am leaving it up to what she wants to do... which is seeming dangerous at this stage in the game. Tomorrow night we're having dinner with the boyfriend, and after that going to a movie (Corpse Bride). I plan on taking her to MoMA at some point. And Sunday we're meeting up for dinner with my cousin who lives on Staten Island.

I'm relying on the fact that she walks reeeeaalllllly slow to fill up some time. Cuz otherwise, that doesn't seem like enough to fill an entire weekend. I guess we'll just do some (slow) walking around town? Broadway's too expensive, I can't afford to take her to a show.Sigh...

Oh well. She'll have me by her side, AND THAT'S ENOUGH!!! And yes, I am an only child. How'd you guess?
