Muggle-Tastic!

Yes, it's another post about Harry Potter. Get off your high horse, ya Muggle, and join in the Potter-mania! Or, uh, not.

Spent about an hour this afternoon reading this exquisitely long interview with JK Rowling herself. Good stuff, for us fanatics at least. I mean, the questioners were way more fanatic than I am, there were questions in there ("the gleam of triumph"??? Wha?) that went way over my head. But I guess that's why they run a Harry Potter website and I have a blog that talks about the worth of The Guttenberg. Ahem.

Anyway, I am going to ramble about spoilerish stuff right now. You're warned.

Just some stuff I've been batting around since finishing the book and reading some JKR interviews:

- I love that JKR has said that Aunt Petunia has some secrets that'll be revealed come next book. She hinted at that in the latest book, and I can't wait to know what it is. I'm a big fan of Fiona Shaw, have been since The Butcher Boy, and it always makes me glad when she's gotten her brief moments in each film so far. To know she's going to play a real role in the story towards the end, in whatever manner, makes me gleeful.

- EW pointed out some good spoilerish spec in its H.P. issue, specifically a point I'd forgotten, that there was an unopenable locket in Sirius' house in Book Four. HAS to be the locket that Voldemort's horcrux is in that the mysterious "RAB" stole. Spec seems to indicate that "RAB" is Regulas Black, Sirius' brother, which would make sense. And with all the talk of things being stolen and hawked out from Sirius' house in Book Six, I think that lil' locket-cum-soulcatcher is going to be tougher to locate than expected.

- The death of Aragog seemed kind of pointless a scene to me, as if JKR were just giving Hagrid something, anything, to do so he'd at least have some scenes, but now, with some thought, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking that the spider poison that was taken from his fang might come into play later, since there was a lot of explanation of its use.

- All the talk I've read of is-he-or-isn't-he as regards to Snape's being evil or not has made my head spin. It could really go either way at this point, but I am all for the Snape-is-good scenario. Dumbledore's implicit trust in him is enough, really, even though JKR says his trust could've been his weakness... I think she's just trying to retain the power of the current book's message for now, and come Book Seven the tune will change.

Damn, I know I've got more I've been thinking about, but I'm blanking right now. I should've made a list. Well, it's not like I'm limiting the number of Potter-posts I'm making, so I'll just post again if it comes to me. Peace!
