Enough About You...

I'm still working through the kinks of this whole blogging thing. I had a blog a while back that fell into disrepair, but I'm hoping to be a better Lord + Master this time around. I'm enjoying the ability to post pictures, which was unavailable to me at the other site I was using before, so that may be the spark to keep my ever-alternating attentions focused. I'm simple like that.

Enough about that. This is me-telling-you-about-me time. I am 28 years old. I grew up in Western NY state, about an hour east of Rochester. Now I live in Brooklyn, work in Manhattan, as an assistant to the owner of a small advertising and creative design agency. This is not where my interests lie. It's a good job, steady and pretty simple, gives me money to afford to live in this wonderful metropolis, gives me time to work on what I really wanna do, which is write. No, not the relatively effortless drivel I come up with here, but short fiction, mostly, all of which I immediately horde away for no one but myself to enjoy. I keep meaning to try that whole publishing thing... but I'm a timid boy, it must be said. I's scared!

I am coupled, though I'm going to try and keep the Dirty Laundry out of here since my last blog became a Personal Bitching Forum (about everything, not specifically the boyfriend), and that's not enjoyable for anyone. But he may come up here and there, so I figured I'd mention the ol' ball to my chain. We've been together four-plus years and it is delightful.

I went to college for two years for Filmmaking, decided I hated the tech side of it and transferred to another school for Film Studies and English. Which I loved, but has yet to provide me with anything of substance outside of the ability to thoughtfully dissect the mise en scene of a Brain DePalma splatter frame.

Speaking of, my filmic speciality is Horror. I imagine I will do a lot of talking about Horror. Boo!!!

My favorite directors, you ask? Hitchcock will always be at the top of the list. I've been digging Takashi Miike lately, as well as Chan Wook Park. David Fincher... Todd Solondz... for populist entertainment I am a total whore for Steven Spielberg and I will defend that right until my dying day. Same with Tim Burton, though I haven't liked either of his past two films (Big Fish and Planet of the Apes). Yeah, my tastes run pretty mainstream in the end, I'll admit it. Especially with the Big Summer Movie Season coming up you'll see, I go and see a lot of crap.

Anyway, that's me, your ever-humble blogger. Please don't ever leave me.
