Buggered

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm in a highly unusual perky mood today. There's a rumor afloat that we may be closing the office early this afternoon, due to the overwhelming homosexuality of my office-mates and this being Gay Pride weekend and all. Gotta love New York. Everyone's gotta get their drunk on! Whoo!

I might go to the parade on Sunday, but it's been a couple years since I've done anything Pride related. The boyfriend doesn't "do" Pride, and I can't especially blame him, I'm not into the gay scene either. Whatever I mean by "scene", the parade really does bring out everyone, it's not the most focused of groups. But, this being New York, a hefty majority will be the pec-tastic Chelsea crowd, and... they creep me out. With their saddle-hide skin tones and DD bosoms. All the tank tops and mandals... shudder.

I mean, obviously, everyone's not like that. There are also the 90 year old leather queens in chaps and their sagging man boobs with pierced nipples and some blonde twink slave boy chained to their ankle. And the Dykes on Bikes. And enough peroxide in the air to effectively burn your eyes to cinders.

Good times. But if I get good and wasted it is a good time, I can leave my hang-ups (and yeah I realize they're my hang-ups, these people I'm ridiculing are perfectly happy being... themselves) behind and just enjoy myself. Wow, I'm really trumpeting my sanity here, admitting I have to get shit-faced before I can stop hating everyone. Yay me!

Anyway, I might go to the parade on Sunday. The bf's got his sis in town so he'll be fam-tertaining, and I'll be left to my own wicked devices. Mostly. We are planning on going to see Land of the Dead Saturday night. Which... I'm really really excited about the movie... and really really nervous about meeting his sister. Haven't met her yet. He's explained that she'll either be her normal self or turn into Nervous Over-compensating Accepting Sister who will hold me by the arm and ask if we call ourselves "partners"... I really hope I get the normal version.

Tonight I am planning on doing NOTHING. Ah sweet nothing. If I do leave work early I might go buy books I don't need. I don't have the money to, but I'll do it anyway. Especially now that I've seen there's a rereleased version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds with the original artwork by Edward Gorey out. How cool is that?
