Five Frames From ?

.

What movie is this?
.

A Lady For Liz, A Dude For Dick

.

Martin Scorsese apparently wants to make a movie about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's big spectacular legendary love affair. Of course this immediately begs the question: who the hell do you get to play these two? I suggest Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, the end. Okay okay, kidding. But who would you pick?

Good Morning, World

And happy 33rd birthday, Dominic Cooper!

Sometimes I think that the very best possible use of a time machine would be to travel back to the heady days of 2004 through 2006 when Dominic Cooper was starring in The History Boys in London and then on Broadway, so I could've camped out at every single showing.

It makes me sick that I missed it. Course I probably would've been thrown out after the second or twelfth time I shouted "I"LL DO IT!" during that scene where he asks his teacher to suck him off. Oh well. Tickle party!

Getting There...

He's done this a couple of times at shows of his I've been to, the tease, but it's never been captured until now - Sufjan caught lifting up his shirt! (via)

That's the most skin we've seen from him yet! At this rate we'll get some upper calf in another five years or so... I'm marking my calendar.
.

In Honor of the 199th Anniversary...

... of the War of 1812, here's a picture of Yul Brynner puffing and practicing his sword-fighting (unfortunately, not "sword-fighting") in obscenely tight pants for his 1958 film The Buccaneer. (via)

From what I can find with an extensive two minutes of Googled research, there are only two movies about The War of 1812 - this one and the 1952 Angela Lansbury film Mutiny. And when you think war movie, you think Angela Lansbury! And correct me if I'm wrong, but I figured you'd prefer a shot of Yul's snug bits-n-pieces to Murder She Wrote's lacy petticoats any day. Anyway I guess the War of 1812 is lacking sufficient dramatic tension? Grr Canadians, notsomuch.

Paul Master of the Dern Domain

h.

Have y'all been keeping track of all the names dropping into Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, the cult-creation myth once titled The Master but now apparently not anymore? Slash has a pretty good round-up of all the names, including the just announced today Amy Adams, as well as that blond lady from the Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movies that my boyfriend is bizarrely obsessed with making fun of - you wouldn't think she'd be someone who could come up very often, but somehow she does - but most exciting to me is Laura Dern. I want Laura Dern to be in every movie that comes out, but if I only get her every so often hooking her up with PTA is choice, indeed. I just hope he has the sense to have her make her special face for him. Anyway the film will, fingers and toes and all my nethers crossed, start filming soon. Whee!

Happy 38, Adam Garcia

.

.
Ahh bless this scene. It coulda, shoulda, went further, but it's a lovely thing all the same. I've wished Adam Garcia a happy gratuitous birthday the past two years - see 2009 here and see 2010 here - so I figured I'd keep the flame alive, even though I'll be gosh-darned if I ever see him in anything. I told the story in one of those earlier posts but the fact that he's a celebrity I've seen in his underpants in the real world keeps him in my good graces, and will forever. That's apparently all it takes! Keep that in mind, up-and-comers.

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Lelaina (Winona Ryder): I just don't understand why things just can't go back to normal at the end of the half hour like on the Brady Bunch or something.

Troy (Ethan Hawke): Well, cuz Mr. Brady died of AIDS. Things don't turn out like that.

Cry, Valhalla, I Am Coming

I'm sure most of y'all caught that cammed version of David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer that leaked the other day - hell I watched it about five times over the weekend. The fact that I can't yet download Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of Led Zeppelin that adorns it is making JA a very sad boy. Anyway the official US green-band trailer's here now, and you can watch it right on here.
.

.
Insanely this omits my favorite shot in the leaked version (which you can still watch here, although they've been snatching these up so look quickly) , so I went back and capped that now.

What is it about Daniel Craig without a shirt on and covered in blood? It is always good. It is something to get you through the day.
