Charlie's Beginning of A New Ending

.
There is a lot of lovely news breaking today, movie-wise, that keeps keeping me from catching up with the things I missed while I was off-line, but seeing as how we live in a world where the things that could be distracting me include "nuclear armageddon" I will just be fine with this agreeable alternative to that. The happy news - Charlie Kaufman has announced a new movie

The writer-director of the best film of the current millennium has teamed up with Netflix, and Netflix you can just go ahead and renew my subscription for infinity because of this, to adapt a book called I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid. Anybody read it? That title sure does sound like a Charlie Kaufman title, but it's not quite as bleak as it sounds - it's about a woman who is going to end a relationship. (Not, as was my first thought, her life.) Here's what THR says:

"The novel takes place on a road trip, where Jake is taking his girlfriend to meet his parents on their secluded farm, all the while Jake's girlfriend is thinking of ending things. When Jake makes an unexpected detour leaving her stranded, a twisted mix of palpable tension, psychological frailty and sheer terror ensues."

Okay okay it might also be as bleak as my first thought - who knows. But Charlie making a new movie is always cause for celebration, and a cause to go to Amazon and buy a book, so I'm on it. If any of you have read it already give me casting ideas in the comments!
