The Grand High Witch

.

I was really tempted to make this a "Do Dump or Marry" post for the three Suspiria witches seen above but y'all never bother to answer the ones that are jokey - all you people want is a hot ass! (Not that I can't commiserate.) So if anybody's feeling like it you can tell me which of them you'd Do which you'd Dump and which you'd Marry in the comments, but I won't hold my breath. (Cue me turning blue.) My reason for summoning the gorgeous ladies of the Freiburg dance academy there is otherwise - mainly I'm taking a moment to say howdy to Joan Bennett, seen up top smack-dab in the center of that terribly fetching trio, and here striking a saucy pose:

And why am I saying hi to Joan Bennett? Because my boyfriend has had the old Dark Shadows soap playing on Netflix constantly in the background of my life for the past few weeks, and I didn't know she was even on it until this. As I admitted a couple of weeks ago, I'd never seen any of the original Dark Shadows before. Until now. Now I've seen plenty. God it's wooden. At least every time I see her clomping across the flimsy sets, speaking her lines as if it's the first time she's ever set sight on words (not just those words - words in general) I'm reminded of Suspiria, which is never a bad thing.

And also, now I'm tempted to do a mean thing.

I'm sorry, Joan. Nobody should ever be asked
that question against Michelle Pfeiffer. It isn't pfair.

Anyway that leads me to the fact that Tim Burton's version of Dark Shadows is indeed out in theaters today, and you can read what I have to say about it and the other movies all out today - there isn't much; The Avengers is all now - right on over at Celebrity Beehive. Go on!

I have to say I love Joan Bennett. I will agree that Dark Shadows was not her best work but she was blind as a bat without her glasses so perhaps she was distracted by trying not to knock over anything for fear that the whole shoddy set would collapse around her.

To see her at her best, and when she was young she was very beautiful, watch Woman in the Window, Man Hunt or particularly Scarlet Street & The Reckless Moment, she's great in them all.

The new Dark Shadows looks absolutely dreadful.
