5 Off My Head - Luff The Ruff

.
Supposing all goes as planned - and since Joss Whedon's been tossed the reins who knows if all will goes as planned since that dude's straight-up cursed - we'll be seeing Mark Ruffalo step into Bruce Banner's lab-coat (and quickly rip out of that same lab-coat when someone makes him angry) on May 4th, 2012 in The Avengers. His pick surprised me, but in a good way - I don't think we'll have a lot of room in a movie that crowded for him to have a whole lot of time to make an impression, so having Mark Ruffalo's big beautiful soulful brown eyes there will help. Looking at Mark Ruffalo, you instantly want to look more.

Today's his 43rd birthday, so let's try looking back for a moment - here are my five of my favorite performances of his. There about five more that coulda made the cut but today I'm feeling these...

Terry, You Can Count on Me (2000)
"Yeah, this is the haute cuisine of garments."
Detective Malloy, In The Cut (2003)
"You know what your problem is?
You're fucking exhausting."
Stan, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
"You looked happy. Happy with a secret."
Matt, 13 Going on 30 (2004)
"It doesn't matter what Lucy said. I stopped trusting her
after she stole my PopRocks in the third grade."
Paul, The Kids Are All Right (2010)
"Right on. Cool. I love lesbians."

I´m not a huge Ruffan, but his work on "The kids are all right" was the best part of the movie.

He managed to create the image of a perfect man for the rest of the characters (the cool dad with a motorbike for the boy, the naturalist & cook dad for the girl, the sexbomb for Moore, the possible friend for Bening) and he also managed to destroy that image for everyone without really changing his performance. That was amazing.
