I Am Friday's All-Horror Link

--- Rogue's Release! I'm not doing my happy dance just yet, I'll save that for when I'm sitting in the theater, the purchased ticket stub in my front pocket, that's how pessimistic I am with All-Things-Weinstein, but for now, a little whoop-whoop is in order - BD is saying that Dimension Extreme has cemented October 12th as the release date for Greg McLean's Rogue. It doesn't say nothing 'bout this hinging on how well it does in Australia, so perhaps we will really for real get it! Whoop-whoop!

--- Also classified under "awesome news" - BD is also saying that the French thriller Ils (Them) - which I've been jonesing for since here - will truly be released here in the States as well, and freaking soon - August 17th! They've got the trailer up, too.

--- I have to admit that I haven't thought the TV spots for The Invasion have been too bad - even though word on the film has been negative, I find a wellspring of hope bubbling up that maybe it won't be a total train-wreck? Every version of the story so far has been good-to-excellent. But the new poster (there to the right) is a sodden turd.

Why are they having such a hard time finding a decent marketing approach for this thing? Invasion of the Body Snatchers is iconic. Play with that iconography, don't just slap big Nicole faces on things, god. The last poster was sloppy, but better than this.

--- Tis the Season - I'm also starting to feel a turn of hopeful and positive sentiment towards Rob Zombie's Halloween remake... I still think the trailer sucks, but in this two-part interview he did with Final Girl (and others) he says some things that make me wanna back off his case. The Devil's Rejects does grant him some reprieve from being terrorized, I suppose. Make me happy, Zombie!

"Them" just jumped to the top of my list--looks like a better version of "The Strangers", which I am hearing not great things about even though Hot Scott (Speedman) is in it

Oh! I saw Ils just last night. It was pretty good. But it's only 70 minutes long so I'm not even sure it's technically a feature length film!

Still, crrrreepy. That's for sure.

Also, I just don't get the posters for The Invasion. I just... aah! It shouldn't be that hard.
