Sorry posting's light. I can't especially think of much to prattle on about. My brain is kinda... dead... today.
I think it's cuz I sat in bed for about seven to eight hours yesterday reading. I'm doing my damndest to work through Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising books. I have finished four, and am halfway through the fifth and final book now. I can't decide whether I should go home and attempt to finish it or give my poor, addled brain a break. I am really into it, thoroughly enjoying the story, and recommend them highly... but right about now, my brains are mashed potatoes and I just kinda want to finish the books already. It's a race to the finish!
Which makes it sound like I'm not liking them, me being so desperate to be done... but I've just been plowing through them every chance I've gotten to read for about three weeks now and... and... I just want my freedom back! Does that make sense?
They are swell, though, I do encourage you to seek them out. Just... take your time. Read them when you have the patience to hand over a good few weeks. I chose a bad moment to read them, I've been... on edge lately... and there's a disconnect happening that's transported itself to my reading habits.
The boyfriend just got a copy of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell from a friend. I'd been waiting to read it until it came out in paperback since it's an effing brick... but now it's just sitting there at his apartment, he's out of town all week for work... and it's really tempting, I've heard great things about the book. But... diving into another massive fantasy story, the way I'm dealing with the current one, it might not be the best idea. Maybe I should wait. Read something small for my next one. Lord knows I've got thirty thousand books sitting on my shelf I haven't read yet.
This must be a fascinating, scintillating read for the five of you reading this. Thanks for joining us this episode of MasherBrains Theatre. This message has been brought to you by Really Awful Puns, Inc.
I have to stop now.

Jesus. It took you THIS LONG to FINALLY read "The Dark is Rising" series? Of course it did. Only someone with such LOATHESOME taste as yourself (you filthy lover of that asinine Harry Potter series) would deny himself of Susan Cooper-goodness for so long. Actually, you should be denied. You are not worthy of The Dark is Rising!!!!
