I did, mostly! I saw it in the theater and never had to review it, so going through it this time for these frames reminded me of a few issues I had with it -- a big one being that the big ultimate battle at the end is shot like shit, just absolutely incomprehensible editing and you have no idea what's happening to who during it -- but those were minor dings. It's SO beautifully shot and performed and just SO ALIVE. It's a great time at the movies and I 100% understand why it was such a hit.

ReplyDeleteThe dance scene in the Juke joint - when multiple eras and cultures intertwine - was truly original and amazing.

DeleteIt was a great time at the movies! I plan to rewatch on Max but nothing beats the theatre especially for a movie like that. Thank you for your take.
