I know, I know, it's like Pillion all day every day around here -- and the movie's not even out until February here in the U.S.! But it's out in the U.K. right now so, since we're a global internet, we're also getting inundated with stuff -- not to mention the movie is still gunning for awards attention here Stateside. And is worthy of such! (Here is my review.)
Anyway I really loved this collection of set photos that photographer Chris Harris posted on his Instagram -- see a lot more at this link. And also it actually is a big Pillion Day for me personally because I'm going to go see it again a third time tonight, and be in the room with director Harry Lighton and one Alexander SkarsgÄrd for a second time this very evening! And hopefully Alex won't be recovering from a stomach bug like he was the last time I saw him (see those photos here). Nobody wants to make out when they're not feeling well, after all.

Why are they doing screenings of it now, if it's not out until February? Is there going to be a short run for Oscar consideration?
ReplyDeleteIMDb says it ran for a qualifying week in October but I don't remember that honestly. But it's 100% getting its awards push right now - it's on A24's awards site and they're screening it to the guilds. I don't really know for sure but it's such a small film they're smart to try to capitalize on the heat it has now (I have no idea why they're waiting until February for a full release)
ReplyDeleteIt's hearsay, but potentially the delay until Feb. is because they are re-cutting the film to get an "R" rating in the U.S.? See: https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2025/10/19/pillion
DeleteMaybe they are trying to get a bump in ticket sales from Valentine's Day.
