The second trailer for Emerald "Saltburn" Fennell's Wuthering Heights movie starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi licking a wall (as seen above) has dropped today -- I shared the first one back in September and said what I needed to say and posted the gifs of shirtlesss Jacob already right there. The brief gist is I am hardcore Team Fennell and I can't wait for her to annoy all of you who aren't. Here's the trailer:
This movie isn't out until February -- do a double-feature with Pillion! -- so I'm surprised we're already getting a full-length trailer now, but I guess it's so they can play it during all the holiday releases. Anyway every use of red in this trailer made me orgasm -- and yes that's a lot of orgasm, and also yes nobody should probably sit next to me when I see finally this. For real though this shot below in particular seriously made me cackle withh glee -- this romance-novel nonsense is amazing. Amazing! I want it! (And I already bought the Charli XCX soundtrack on vinyl, which just went on sale today.)

I'm with you; so excited for this! I have no idea why some people are so freaked out over Fennell. I don't necessarily love her work, but it's always interesting and provocative at least
ReplyDeleteI think in a perverse way that's become part of why I enjoy Her -- and this is beyond me liking her films, which I do on their own merits -- it's that I find the anger constantly directed at her 100% inexplicable. To the point where it's silly as fuck, and becomes its own entertainment.
DeleteSatire and semi-satire bug people.
DeleteI've only seen Saltburn and I wasn't bothered so much by the film as by the fact that so many people seemed to love it, when I found it merely enjoyable, fairly idiotic and often reaching for camp but not hitting the mark. That said, I'll see this if only because I'm a sucker for 80s paperback aesthetics.
ReplyDeleteI don't get some of that hate but I wonder if it's her background and the opportunities she got because of her connections, maybe i'm wrong but i've liked both her outings so far but i'm not as enthused about seeing this story for the umpteenth time.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely zero chemistry between the two of them.
