Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Sailor: If you think about it, cattle
ain't got it much worse than us.
Gloria: They got it better.
There's always somebody feeding them.

One of the bleakest stories ever put onto celluloid, director Sydney Pollack's by far best movie came out 50 years ago today. Despairingly it's as timely as ever -- the poor get poured into the organ grinders to sustain the other poor just enough to keep the merry-go-round spinning, and eventually it's everybody's turn save the rich. What a perfect movie to celebrate on the day Articles of Impeachment have been brought up against our Robber Baron President. Don't get caught in the circular melee everybody. Keep your eyes on the prize.

Saw it 50 years ago, and it's still seared in my memory.

She looks so much like Sophia Lillis in this picture, it's unreal.

Bonnie Bedelia's performance in TSHDT is so amazing that I actually choke-up when talking about it.
