5 Off My Head: Vote Yourself Raw

Happy Voting Day, everybody! I don't know about you but I personally am going to have a hard time focusing on anything else today - not even Brad Davis' hairy chest is rescuing me from doomsday thinking. So let's just lean into it and talk about out favorite Political Movies for a second. I'd say that tomorrow that the following list might be totally different but to be honest I could make a totally different list even just thirty seconds from now... hell I could make a totally different list no seconds from now. But let's give this a shot, and list...

Citizen Ruth (1996)

    Always happy to see Meet John Doe appreciated.

    First 5 that come to mind: No, In the Loop, Z, The Manchurian Candidate, and Good Night and Good Luck.

    But there are of course lots of others including The Best Man and Advise & Consent (both generally, and for their quite depressing/interesting takes on politicians with gay pasts in that era), and several of the movies that captured the overwhelming paranoia many people had re: the powers that be in the '70s/early '80s (like The Parallax View, Three Days of the Condor, and Twilight's Last Gleaming).

    Election
    All the King's Men

    Selma (yes, that fits other genres as well, but politics plays a big part in its story so it counts for me)
