Not entirely giddy about re-kicking the hornet's nest but you'd have thought I went back in time and pushed Rosa Parks into a mud puddle, given the response I got from a few folks on Twitter when I
dared to defend Armie Hammer against that shitty BuzzFeed article (nope, no link from me) the other week by noting that Armie was a lousy example for the author to use for the piece (which could have made its point well if it'd bothered to be thoughtful about it) since he's spent the past several years working on projects that have been put together by people less privileged than he. (If you just speak the name Nate Parker now you get called a rape apologist, apparently.)
Anyway Armie is once again putting his privilege where his mouth is and taking it to the stage where
he's going to co-star in the show
Straight White Men (thx Mac), which was written by Korean-American playwright Young Jean Lee and which is all about dissecting the titular's privilege in the world. The show already ran Off-Broadway back in 2014 - there's a
terrific interview with Lee from that time over at NPR in which she talks about the process of writing this play that you should definitely read, and which makes it sound like fascinating stuff, and one of the can't miss shows of 2018.

That BuzzFeed article was a piece of bitter, vile trash.
I agree that Buzzfeed article was pointless and unnecessary like much of the so called journalists out there today, they are almost as bad as youtube personalities
No matter how much I love him. The article was bitter but true. They have been trying to make him happen for a while now. And rightly so. He is perfect. But he has chosen the wrong parts and franchises.
Still, I did appreciate that the Buzzfeed author made repated references to Armie's "queer undertones."
White gays were angrier about that Buzzfeed article than the shit pouring out of the White House. That journalist dropped nothing but facts. Sorry your straight white fave's feelings were hurt.

Thought the buzzfeed article was very insightful and we'll written. If only more film writing was of that calibre.
I didn’t read the whole article but, I don’t see anything wrong with calling out white privileged in Hollywood. The problem is more the tone of the article and the fact that the article implies it it’s Armie’s fault for trying to have a career. He isn’t to blame for the industry prejudice,
