NYFF Diaries: Day 14

.
The 2017 New York Film Festival is currently in session - is runs through October 15th, and if you're around you should go see a movie or seven! We've been keeping tabs on what we've been watching at press screenings, and then we've been reviewing those movies over at The Film Experience. Meanwhile for today...

October 8th
of Jean-Michel Basquiat (dir. Sara Driver)

I don't talk get a chance to talk a ton about my art nerd obsessions here on MNPP but if you follow me on Instagram then you've no doubt been exhausted scrolling through my feed whenever I go to any of NYC's many wonderful museums and am feeling especially click-happy. Sometimes there's a happy meeting between what I can cover here and that love though and it usually has to do with just this kind of documentary.

Sidenote: has anybody watched the 1996 biopic about Basquiat with Jeffrey Wright lately? I'm curious if it stands up - I haven't seen it since it came out but I remember digging it then. (David Bowie plays Andy Warhol!)
