Great Moments In Movie Shelves #111

.
I'm tempted to write some bullshit a la what I wrote about the use of books and bookshelves in Alfred Hitchcock's film Rope last week for this here scene in his movie The Birds - Jessica Tandy takes refuge under the cover of knowledge in the face of animal chaos and illogic!

But that doesn't play as seamlessly here as it did with Rope, which is a movie actually about book-learning gone bad. Still this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie (Jessica Tandy is really freaking good at displaying silent terror; see also the scene where she discovers the dead body) and those shelves sure do look vivid in 1963 technicolor.
