Graduation Day (1981)

Another classic Slasher Movie death scene from the vaults that I can't believe I've sat on for so long -- if you want to watch this scene proper-like you can do so on YouTube, although I really recommend sitting through the entire garbage fest of Graduation Day from start to finish - I mean how can you understand the depth of context and emotion here without what comes before and after?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha yeah not. Aww I make fun because I love. We're pulling this one out today not because it's June and therefore a season appropriate horror flick but because the Film Society of Lincoln Center announced their "Scary Movies" line-up yesterday and... this movie isn't on it? It's true! But they are showing a different 1981 slasher, the one called Happy Birthday to Me, and in conversation yesterday I got these two movies hopelessly mixed up - I thought the football death was in HBTM. 

HBTM does however have two classic "Ways Not To Die" that we have already covered though - there's this insane "slammed in the dick while weight training" scene, and there's the shish-kebob scene that graces the movie's infamous poster (seen to the right above). 1981 was The Year of the Slasher Movie and these are among... the ones that came out that year. Okay they're on precisely nobody's Greatest Horror Movies list, but they are fun, if you love slashers, as I must as a child of the 1980s.

Also showing at "Scary Movies" this July is the 1986 slasher called Killer Party, which I had never even heard of before - have you? It's apparently set on April Fool's Day but it had the bad fortune to come out at the same time as the Slasher Movie called April Fool's Day, so Killer Party got overlooked... I am so there.
