I'm with you. First it was symptoms of hay fever, in March (!?), then it was a sinus headache, and now it's a stomach virus. What is the mother doing to us?
Oh my god, do I miss the atmosphere of 80s sitcoms like Alf and Golden Girls. The bright, joyful but not ecstasy-manic coloring and lighting made everything feel slightly better than real. It didn't rely upon ethereal or harsh tones to set the mood. The advent of HD makes those warm tones even more important. It relaxes you and puts you in the mood to laugh. I think that's part of the reason I hate today's attempt at sitcoms.
Well, that and there's not a single funny joke, or in the case of Big Bang Theory, a single joke, in the entire show. South Park and FunnyBot got their number. 'Awkward! Awkward!' Isn't funny.
