I love that movie. Almodovar is absolutely brilliant and Penelope should just make every movie with him.
ReplyDeleteI love her in it too. It was enough for me to stop hating her actually; I reeeeeeeally disliked her before Volver... based entirely on her horrible performance in Vanilla Sky actually. And I agree, she should just with with Almodovar from now on, or just work in Spanish maybe.

ReplyDeleteShe really is a great actress when she sticks to Spanish and is in good movies (hence why she sucked in Vanilla Sky)
I saw AAMM after Volver; I went on a big Almodovar kick after loving Volver. And yeah, Penny Cruz was terrific in that, too. Though it was a smaller part.
ReplyDeleteI think people are going to hate me for saying this, but I think this film is overrated. Her performance was strong, and most would agree. But the film had serious flaws. I think Talk to Her and All About My Mother are far superior. I was disappointed with this film.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that 1) I saw this movie in theaters, and 2) I really, really liked it. I thought Penelope was great in it, but probably less than others.
